| Despite her Midwest upbringing and being Indiana University alum, Lila prides herself as a die-hard Yankee and Giant fan. She can thank her Italian/New Yorker mother for her love of the Big Apple--and she can thank her Egyptian father for her year round tan! She holds a degree in Journalism, and has worked in television for the past six years.
Lila owes much of her sports knowledge to her big brother who forced her to watch football on Monday nights, play in backyard wiffle ball tournaments, and shoot nerf hoops in the house every chance they could. While not much of an athlete growing up, she was voted class clown in high school, and was a member of the powder puff team.
Throughout her career she has covered a variety of topics-- from Washington politics, to the Queen of Jordan, to skydiving with the Army's Golden knights, and hanging out with fellow Hoosier Antwaan Randle El and the Redskins--but her all time favorite memory is producing a story that resulted in spending 2 hours in the New York Yankees dugout before an interview with Derek Jeter, who she claims is better looking in person than on TV.
But no one is as handsome as her husband of five years, who sometimes has a hard time understanding her slight obsession with baseball, but loves her anyway. Her prized possessions include her signed Derek Jeter baseball, and her Basset Hound, named after Yankee owner, George Steinbrenner. |
